Jules Kain is a Gospel musician and piano teacher whose work brings together traditional and contemporary Black Gospel, classical training, and jazz musicianship.
Through Jules Kain Music, he helps pianists, choir directors, singers, and church musicians learn songs accurately, understand the music they play, and pass Gospel traditions on to the next generation.
01 / A Lifelong Musical Journey
From the church piano to a lifetime in music.
Jules began learning piano at four years old, guided by his father and older brother. By age five, he was playing during church services, building the foundation of his Gospel musicianship through regular worship and performance.
He later studied classical piano and jazz, exploring composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, and Bach while strengthening the improvisation, harmony, and ear skills that define Gospel playing.
His educational journey includes Santa Monica College, The Colburn School, and Berklee College of Music. His experience in churches, rehearsals, and live performances remains just as important to his approach as his formal studies.
02 / Why I Do What I Do
I learned the hard way so you don't have to.
Before building the resources he now shares, Jules knew the frustration of searching for a Gospel song and finding no lesson, no reliable sheet music, and few teachers who could explain the style as it was truly played.
He learned by listening closely to recordings, studying the harmonies, and working through difficult passages for himself. That experience shaped a lasting purpose: to become the teacher and create the resources he wished he had when he was learning.
Today, his goal is to make that journey clearer for other musicians without losing the sound, tradition, or meaning of the original music.

Black Gospel music has shaped generations of worship and musicianship. Yet many treasured recordings remain difficult to find in written form, and their distinctive harmonies, rhythms, and vocal parts can be lost without careful documentation.
Our mission is to preserve authentic traditional and contemporary Black Gospel music and make it easier for musicians of every level to learn and understand. Through detailed piano sheet music, choir arrangements with piano accompaniment, chord charts, MIDI files, tutorials, and personalized lessons, Jules Kain Music helps musicians, churches, and choirs carry the tradition forward.

Outside of music, Jules is a husband to his wife Kristen and a father. Faith, family, and serving others are central to the way he approaches his work and the community around Jules Kain Music.
His background also includes work as an actor and on-screen performer in television, commercials, and live productions. He holds a black belt in Korean martial arts and collects classic Gospel records and rare recordings, an interest closely tied to his love for the genre's history.
Whether teaching a student, preparing a transcription, or exploring a vintage Gospel recording, the purpose remains the same: honor the music and help others carry it forward.
